Everyone is welcome to join us for an Arts Day this weekend at Basingstoke Queen Mary’s College, for professional, artist-led workshops from 1.30-4pm, and a final dance performance and sharing from 4-5pm.

We’ll be celebrating Guru Poorrnima and end of term with the cultural community.

Barsha Abhishaara — a celebration of the first rains after a long drought. The cooling drops of the first rain symbolise many things: new life, regeneration, the thrill and passion of romance, love, and the sheer joy of living. The dance calls for the return of myriad creatures and the rejuvenation of the Earth through rain, thunder, and tumbling rocks — marking a cycle that has driven humanity for millennia.”

Take part in workshops exploring the classical dance forms of Odissi and Kathak, alongside singing and tabla. Share your practice and performance and pick up tips from professionals, including Simiantini Mitra and Richa Shrivastava.

We’ll have snack stalls available across the day with delicious snacks and homemade chai available to purchase.

It is a pay what you feel event, so any donations welcome –  please give what you feel the event is worth.
