Join Kala The Arts Dance and Music organisation and be part of a team that serves and connects people from grassroots to international communities! We’ve spent 26 years sharing our expertise and skills in South Asian Dance across the UK’s South West region.
In that time 383 schools and communities have received workshops and training from us. Thousands of children and adults have benefited from our ambitious programmes, learning classical Indian dance to help develop consciousness and creativity.
We connected to 35,000 audience members across our platforms in 2024-2025, as we collaborated and connected with organisations at a local, national, and international level. Our annual Diwali Light It Up! event is one of the largest outdoor arts event / festival in the region, reaching 4,000 spectators and participants. The festivals are completely free and open to all, regardless of background. Our The Art of Dance from the Indian Subcontinent exhibition with Reading Museum welcomed 55,000 people during its run, created in collaboration with Kala The Arts, our talented volunteers and the team at Reading Museum.
In 2025 we worked with 94 artists through our busy programme of activities to nurture the next generation of artists and performers through further training and career development.
We create and deliver classes, training programmes, productions, performances, workshops, exhibitions and Holiday and Food programmes. We work across Hampshire and Berkshire, bringing ancient Indian dance forms to thousands of new audience members every year, as the art form evolves.
Job Requirements
We’re looking to appoint two trustees who may have experience or background of Law, HR, Marketing, Artistic Skills, Project Management and IT sector.
Although not essential, we welcome those with experiences of disability or neurodiversity.

Job Responsibilities – what’s involved?
As a Non-Executive Director, you’ll provide strategic leadership and guidance to support our award-winning organisation’s growth and impact. You’ll be involved in our varied projects, be given access to high profile programmes and national events. You’ll be working with a highly respected arts charity, with an opportunity to share and develop your skills whilst shaping our organisation.
The role requires a commitment of around 10-12 days per year, with travel expenses and access costs covered. You will get to join our various events, attend away days and help drive the vision of the organisation.
