Bring the Hindu Festival of Colours, Love, and Spring to your school pupils with Kala The Arts’ free CPD workshop
Kala The Arts is an Arts in education charity and a professional dance organisation working in the Boroughs’ schools for the last 26 years. We are a National Portfolio Organisation of Arts Council England and experienced at offering CPD training.
Kala programmes an impressive array of school activity throughout the year for Key Stage 1-3 including a current exhibition at Reading Museum, focusing on the Art of Indian dance.
This spring we are offering local school teachers a CPD opportunity for free Twilight or INSET sessions on Holi, a festival of lights in South Asian Dance, Music and Theatre, through dynamic workshops.
An interactive session combining drum music, dance and vibrant colours of Holi, these workshops are open to teachers of primary school children in Rushmoor and Hart. You’ll come away with sessions suitable for children of all backgrounds.
Proposed Session Highlights:
Feeling the Music: Exploring how children react to different drum vibrations and movements.
Colours of Holi and Rhythm: Associating rhythm with colours—each beat triggering different hues to create a visual music experience.
Touch and Vibration Sensory Play: Letting children feel music through touch, movement, and visual cues (e.g., bioluminescent responses to drumming).
Movement and Expression: Encouraging children to express rhythm through dance, body movements, and colours—making music a full-body experience.
Engagement and Joy: Observing how they connect with beats, speeds, and intensities of drumming, while celebrating the spirit of Holi through colour splashes and artistic expression.
The goal is to develop an inclusive approach that enhances their engagement through a fusion of music, movement, and the colours of Holi.
We look forward to working with your team, ensuring it is tailored to your teachers’ needs and preferences.
